Private Parties in Helsinki – events, weddings and celebrations at Shelter
Our team has been hosting private events for over ten years. By now we've seen pretty much everything, from intimate birthday dinners to full restaurant buyouts for over a hundred. You can trust us with the important occasions and focus on being present. We handle the planning, the timeline, dietary requirements, sound, all of it.
Shelter is also well placed for event organisers. The city's most beautiful churches are around the corner, and Helsinki's best late-night venues are within easy walking distance. Drop us a line and we'll put together something that fits exactly what you have in mind.
Groups of 20–55 — the upstairs venue
For groups this size, we recommend booking our upstairs space for private use. It seats up to 55 guests and can be reserved for either early or late evening, in line with our standard seating times: 17.00–19.30 or from 20.00 onwards.
When we plan the evening together, we always suggest a few options for welcome drinks, the menu and wine pairings. Here's one example of what a full package looks like:

Groups of 50–100
For groups of 60 and above, we reserve the full dining room for private use. The space can be booked for a single seating or, as we usually recommend, for the whole evening — no clock-watching, and the dinner can be built entirely around your event.
We'll put together a few options for welcome drinks, the menu and wine pairings. An example package:

What kind of events work at Shelter?
Shelter works equally well for corporate dinners and private celebrations. Over the years we've hosted corporate events and client dinners, team nights and staff gatherings, weddings and wedding dinners, milestone birthdays and anniversaries, graduation dinners, and Christmas parties and summer events.

Yes. Summer is Shelter at its best. The upstairs or the full restaurant can be booked for private use during the summer season too. Most definitely! The upstairs is available for private hire for up to 55 guests, the full restaurant for up to 135. The Christmas season fills up fast, so get in touch early.
